Halfsies Newsletter #3

Happy July everyone! The work on Halfsies continues as your feedback continues to roll in. Zach, Owen, Kelly, and us have been hard at work on some new features (while also making time to enjoy the summer sun). The launch of Alpha Version 2 is still on track for August 11th. Here are some of the features we’re dying to share with you.

Automatic Budget Generation

By far the step users are struggling with the most is creating stashes. And we get it, manually entering all of your budget items, remembering due dates, figuring out how much you need to set aside for them - it’s a lot! And of all the stash types, expenses can be the most cumbersome to tackle.

That’s why we’ve been working hard on a way to make entering your expenses (those persistent recurring items) seamless. After next month, you’ll be able to simply select recurring transactions from your Activity section, hit “confirm”, and voila! Expense stashes will be added to your budget, and that money will be waiting for you at the next due date.

This should leave you plenty of time to focus on the fun stuff - setting goals for special treats or occasions and building up your funds!

Solo Mode

Development on solo mode is going great and will soon allow you to budget independently, without all of the extra frills of couples’ features.

While our original vision was to finally create an envelope method budgeting app created for couples from the ground up - we recognize that not everyone pools their accounts 100%. Some of you have separate bank accounts, and some of you simply love our budgeting tools but aren’t in a relationship right now.

We hope that this update helps all of you feel included and allows for even more financial independence.

Funding Schedules & Scheduled Transfers

In our next iteration, sending yourself allowances is going to be entirely “set it & forget it”.

With our updated funding schedule system you can simply tell us when your paychecks deposit and use those dates to trigger both your allowance transfers and stash fundings.

In addition, funding schedules will no longer be tied to each stash, but controlled from a central location where you can easily make edits and delete scheduled transfers.

That’s it for this time!

We really hope these updates should help you all get budgeting much more easily, and remove a lot of big pain points. But, as always - free to let us know!

Send any and all feedback to Leah (our UX Designer) at leah@halfsiesbudgeting.com. We appreciate you all!
