Welcome to Halfsies!
We’re kicking off May with something exciting: the first blog post from the Halfsies team! Whether you’ve just discovered us or you’ve been testing since day one, we’re glad you’re here.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been busy refining what Halfsies is — and where it’s going next. This blog is where you’ll find regular updates on new features, fixes, and everything we’re learning along the way.
Why Halfsies Exists
When Jade and I started working on Halfsies back in 2022, we were just two people frustrated by budgeting apps that didn’t actually help us plan ahead — especially as a couple.
Most apps were great at showing us where our money went last month... but not so great at helping us decide where it should go next month. On top of that, setting things up often meant transferring everything into a neobank (which might get acquired and disappear — ugh), and “couple features” were more like an afterthought.
So we built Halfsies — a forward-thinking envelope budgeting app made by couples, for couples. One that focuses on what you can spend — not just what you already did. And thanks to early feedback, we’re getting clearer every day on what’s working, what needs fixing, and what features to prioritize.
Here's what’s coming next:
Alpha Update #1: Better Categorization
Right now, we know Halfsies can feel a little text-heavy. We’re working on adding stash categorization, as well as more visual cues — like better labels, clearer icons, and profile pics — to quickly tell you what’s what in your Budget and Activity views.
Expected Release: May 25th
Alpha Update #2: Credit Card Integration & Solo Budgeting
More flexibility is on the way:
Credit Card Syncing: Link cards to your personal or shared virtual accounts. Balances will automatically reduce your Spend amount.
Fully Private Transactions: Purchases made with a linked credit card are fully hidden from your partner — no manual sorting needed.
Solo Budgeting Mode: Want to use Halfsies for just yourself? Soon you’ll be able to turn off couples features and budget solo.
Expected Release: August 11th
Beta Testing: Smarter Onboarding
We’re planning a smarter, faster onboarding flow for beta. Our goal is to make setting up your budgets and calculating your Spend amount feel as quick and intuitive as possible.
Expected Release: TBD
Final Launch
If all goes smoothly, Halfsies will be ready for full release on the App Store and Google Play by late fall 2025. We'll keep sharing progress here as we get closer to launch day.
Thanks for following along! Whether you’re testing Halfsies, cheering us on, or just curious about what’s next in budgeting, we’re grateful you're here. Your feedback is helping shape the future of Halfsies — and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
