We’re Cozy Seal Software

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! We’re Cozy Seal Software, a small Oregon-based team formed by couples, for couples. Passionate about making finances just a little bit easier, we strive to take the stress out of managing a shared bank account, so you can focus on building your life together - not arguing over expenses.

Jade Westover

DEVELOPMENT LEAD

An original founder, Jade began work on Halfsies in 2022 with her wife, Leah. When their preferred solution (Simple Bank) shut down in 2021, they searched high and low for a similar service but found themselves increasingly frustrated. Most apps on the market weren’t meant for couples, had a heavy learning curve, or relied on retroactive budgeting (“how on track were you last month?”) rather than helping users manage the cash they had today. So they set out to create their own solution.

With over 10 years of software development experience, Jade set out to build a tool designed specifically for couples who share a bank account - not an afterthought or an add-on. As she puts it, “Do one thing, and do it really well.” Her goal with Halfsies is simple: help couples stay on the same page and make sense of their shared balance.

Leah Westover

DESIGN LEAD

An original founder, Leah began work on Halfsies in 2022 with her wife, Jade.

Originally a social services worker, Leah spent several months speaking with individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and levels of financial literacy before designing the first Halfsies prototype in 2023, leading to its current iteration today. Leah hopes that Halfsies will improve communication for couples, and make budgeting less intimidating for those approaching it for the first time.

Zachery Gilio

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Zach joined Halfsies as a founding member in early 2025 and has been deeply involved in the development and planning of the app. Bringing a unique work ethic from his military and federal background, he has focused on building solutions that are not only scalable and thoughtfully executed but also prioritize top-tier cybersecurity. His perspective has been key to collaborative problem-solving across the team.

His passion for Halfsies comes from a personal place: after struggling to consistently use multiple budgeting apps in the past, Zach was motivated to help steer the development of a product that he would genuinely be proud to use himself. Moving forward, he is dedicated to continually developing new features that simplify financial life for the everyday person.

Kelly Boyer

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Kelly joined Halfsies as a founding member in 2025. She has since contributed greatly towards developing beloved squirrel mascots Savi & Spence, as well as leading social media campaigns for the product. Working in both student services and content creation, Kelly’s interests lie in care and creativity.

What made Halfsies stand out to her was the couple running it. The love and hard work Leah and Jade put into the early development of Halfsies was clear, and she felt inspired to create a public brand that properly reflected their values and vision. To Kelly, Halfsies is important because it isn’t just an app thrown together by corporate shills to make a quick buck; it's a real tool made by real people who want to take the fear out of finance for couples.
